A few years ago, retired great lakes capt. richard metz began posting his "sea stories," drawn from his long career aboard u.s. and canadian steamboats, on the boatnerd.com website. someone suggested he turn those stories into a book, and metz has done just that.. The ss william a. irvin was once the proud flagship of united states steel, today she resides as a museum in duluth's canal park. april 29th – memorial day 10am – 4pm daily summer 9am – 6pm daily labor day – september 25th 10am – 4pm daily adult admission $12.00 students & seniors $8.00 children 10 and under are free per every paid adult..
